What we collect
If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store the email address you give us, the type of subscription you selected and the date. If you use the contact form, we receive what you send us. That is the whole of the personal data we hold.
Why we hold it
To send you the newsletter you asked for, and to reply to messages you send us. We do not use your address for anything else, and we do not build a profile of you.
Who we share it with
Nobody. We do not share, sell, rent or otherwise disclose subscriber addresses to sponsors, directory advertisers or anyone else. Sponsors receive a placement in the newsletter and no data.
Unsubscribing and deletion
Every issue carries an unsubscribe link. Using it removes you immediately. If you would prefer your address deleted entirely rather than suppressed, ask through the contact page and we will delete it and confirm.
Cookies and analytics
This site is deliberately light. We do not set advertising cookies, we do not run third-party advertising scripts, and we do not use cross-site tracking. Where we measure anything, we do so in a way that does not require storing identifiers on your device, which is consistent with the position we take in our own article on consent and measurement.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data, including access, correction, deletion and objection. Ask through the contact page and we will respond. The Information Commissioner's Office publishes guidance on those rights and is the regulator you may complain to.
Security and retention
Subscriber addresses are held in a key value store operated by our hosting provider, accessible only to the editorial team. We keep them until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Contact form messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter and then removed.
Changes to this notice
If this notice changes materially we will say so in the newsletter rather than updating it quietly. The date at the foot of every page is the last review date for the site.
